History of our program

Previous to 2013

Fargo Park District and others loosely operate lacrosse as a try-it sport, minimal leagues, sanctioning or travel play

8/6/2013

Red River Valley Lacrosse Association (RRVLA) formed, operating (to this day) youth lacrosse in the Fargo area as a K-12 club sport for metro/surrounding communities

2014-2016

RRVLA, interested parents, students and others informally discuss sanctioned varsity lacrosse with Moorhead Public Schools (MPS)

2016

Grand Rapids, MN fields sanctioned teams in MSHSL girls and boys lacrosse

2017

Discussion and pressure builds for sanctioning Spud Lacrosse

2017

Brainerd, MN approves sanctioned lacrosse for 2017-2018 season

October 2017

Moorhead Lacrosse Booster Club (MLBC) incorporated by volunteers to raise funds for and promote sanctioned Spud Lacrosse

January 2018

MLBC petitions MPS for sanctioned lacrosse

Mar. 2018

Subcommittee of MLBC begins operating Moorhead based youth lacrosse teams to create a vertical brand for Spud Lacrosse

June 2018

MPS approves Girls and Boys Lacrosse as a varsity sport beginning play in the 2018-2019 school year

Aug. 2018

MLBC delivers funding in excess of $19,000 to MPS to kick start lacrosse program

Aug. 2018

MLBC board unanimously votes to dissolve and reconstitute corporation with a new board doing business as "Moorhead Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA)"

January 2019

Registration opens for MYLA programming, season April-June 2019
